A Call to Action

We as Christians must engage our society according to 1Peter 3:15-18 “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.  For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.  For Christ also died for sins once and for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit”

1 Peter 4:1 “Therefore since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin”

It is time for us as Christians to quit spending our time and energy debating the symptoms.  The symptoms are the result of our disease of disobedience to the Great Commission in our own back yard.  It is time for true Christians, who know Jesus as Lord and Savior to recognize this, repent, and ask Christ for the courage, patience, love, and strength to engage our culture and introduce our family members, neighbors, friends, co-workers, politicians, mailman, barber, drycleaner, electrician, plumber, builder, etc. to the God of the Bible through the person of Jesus Christ.  We all need to pray and those who are called need to run for public office at the local, state and national levels.  Those who are called need to run for school board positions.  Those who are called need to support Christian politicians and school board members with their financial resources and their time which are needed to energize and run competitive campaigns.

Prepared for Battle?

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.  Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
1 John 5:4-5

We can be so earthly-minded , fighting our fight in the earthly realm, that we are of no value in the heavenly battle.  We fire our cannon in the wrong realm.  If we are not fighting in heavenly places, we will fight in earthly ones.  If we are not doing battle with the powers of darkness, we will fight people instead.  There is something within us that gets incensed at injustice, something that rises up in protest of wrong doing.  If we do not take that into the heavenly places, resist the enemy, and pray for change, we will fight people.  We should fight issues in society but not people.  Fighting people never advances the Kingdom of God, no matter how right the issues.  God's kingdom is advanced though God and His response to our prayer, and through our spirit-led actions.  Every adversity is a prime opportunity for Christians to have a right reaction, to give glory to God, to uphold His character, and to defeat the devil.
